On October 21, 2025, the China (Chongqing) - Malaysia Economic and Trade Exchange Conference was grandly held in Kuala Lumpur. Under the theme "Land-Sea Linkage for Shared Development," the conference promoted Chongqing's latest socio-economic developments, progress in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and cooperation opportunities in key industries through presentations by relevant departments and enterprise case studies. It established a practical platform for exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Malaysia in trade and investment sectors such as automobiles and motorcycles, laptops, palm oil, and high-quality agricultural products. Additionally, the conference promoted the International Chamber of Commerce Alliance for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and invited the Malaysian business community to participate in the alliance's inaugural annual meeting.
The conference was chaired by Zhang Haiqing, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Chongqing. During the event, opening remarks were delivered by Xu Jian, Vice Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government; Low Chuan Chuen, President of the Malaysia-China Business Council; and Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities of Malaysia. In the key promotion session, presentations were given by Tang Weidong, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce; Mohammad Sawadi Bin Ismail, Senior Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Division at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority; Liao Guanghong, Deputy Head of Chongqing Jiangbei District; Duan Bensheng, Deputy General Manager of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Operation Co., Ltd.; Foo Ching Lam, Vice President of Sendamei International Trading Sdn Bhd; and Zhou Dan, General Manager of Asia Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Chongqing International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co., Ltd.
This exchange conference not only served as a testament to the friendship between the two regions but also represented a practical and impactful cooperation event, opening a new chapter in deepening economic and trade relations between Western China and Malaysia.
